The residency programme is planned throughout the year and details of the artists selected for the programme are highlighted below. A number of Residency and Fellowship places are offered in partnership with organisations such as the Arts Council and Rootstein Hopkins.

Amanda Beech

Spike Island presents the first major solo show in a public gallery by London based artist Amanda Beech (1972). Beech was awarded the main production residency for UK artists at Spike Island in 2009 which contributed to the making of her new body of work Sanity Assassin.

Platform Garanti CAC Production Residency 2008

Fatma Çiftçi

This Production Residency for Turkish artists, funded by Visiting Arts, is part of an on-going collaboration with Platform Garanti CAC, Istanbul. The most recent recipient of the residency, Fatma Çiftçi (Ankara) arrived to start a three month on July 04 2008 and worked in residence for three months, she will return in 2009 to exhibit at Spike Island.

Arts Council England: South West Residency 2008

The Arts Council England: South West Residency offers a UK-based artist a three month residency and solo exhibition at Spike Island. Previous recipents include Alex Frost, Ged Quinn and James Ireland. Elizabeth Price is the recipient of the 2008 award and was selected  by Ruth Claxton (Artist/ACE SW 2007); Lucy Byatt (Artistic Director, Spike Island); Marie-Anne McQuay (Programmer, Spike Island) and Peter Stiles (Arts Council England: South West).
